 OUR STORY

Founder and lead guide Cristián Wehrhahn is a professional snowboarder, snowmobile enthusiast and mountain lover. He spent countless seasons with his best friend, Paulo Audisio snowmobiling in the Pacific northwest, Europe, and Alaska. Eventually, he decided to bring sleds back to his native mountains, in the search for better snowboarding. Cristian, Audisio and their band of friends started Dos Tiempos by loading their sleds onto a trailer and scouring the country for the best snow. In 2008, they found what they were looking for in Cajon del Maipo. They unpacked their sleds in Lo Valdes and never left. Back then, snowmobiles were unheard of in Chile. Cristian recalls a local goat herder saying; “they are like mountain rockets!” Cristian and Audisio totally agreed. These machines allowed them to explore untouched terrain with ease and speed.

Cristian and Audisio have been guiding for over fifteen years and have a deep understanding of their terrain and snow conditions. They are passionate about offering a service that is respectful to the mountains, safe and fun for all involved.

The first years in the valley, Dos Tiempos operated out of a base camp made up of two shipping containers. In 2013, Cristian met his wife, Rion, a Columbus Georgia native. Together, they decided to convert their shipping containers into a home. They traded snowboard boots for windows, salvaged old wood and built a humble but warm house that doubles as a basecamp for operating their business. When you arrive, Cristian, Audisio, Rion and their beloved dog Johan will welcome you in with Chilean/Southern hospitality and happily share with you their stories and love for the mountains.

WHEN?

Our season is best from early July to mid September. The Andes are the second highest mountain range on earth and home to some of the world’s best snow. We get pacific storms that hit the dry mountains and create LIGHT POWDER AND A SNOWPACK THAT LASTS.

A day at Dos Tiempos is a full, all out day…until sundown or until you are tired and ready to head down..

After an adventure packed day and the best runs of your life, we will take you back to the Dos Tiempos house, where Rion will be waiting with Chilean wine and snacks. We will get warm by the fire, share pictures and relax.. From there, you can either head to the Lodge for a soak in the hot tub or back down to the city.

Skiing In Chile With Dominique Ohaco | Adidas TERREX 2023

Amidst the snowy dominion of the towering summits of the Andes, off-piste skiers like Dominique Ohaco find themselves but transient guests on nature’s grand stage. There is no place is more unexplored than the vast expanse of the Andes — one of the world’s most enduring mountain ranges. A place so untouched, the most daring among skiers may be the first to see certain crevices as they navigate the slopes. One such thrill-seeking solitary explorer is Dominique Ohaco, who first tasted the crisp kiss of snow at just three years old, and has been hooked ever since. Through rigorous training, the 3x Olympian has chased her calling for off-piste skiing. She has recently parked her competition skis and swapped them for the wide-eyed wonder of touring, setting forth on a journey through the surrounding snow-capped Andes of her home city Santiago. Feat. Lucas Machicao

Funnest laps with @dostiempos

The pull of the Andes brought The North Face team riders Roland Morley-Brown and Clint Allan to Chile. The chase for the snow is what kept them going. Searching until the shred has been had. Careful preparation and planning for any expedition is paramount, but certain elements cannot be controlled. When Roland Morley-Brown and Clint Allan arrived in Chile to unseasonably warm weather, and barren peaks at Valle Nevado, they were left searching for pockets of snow-drift. Snow-thirsty and on the hunt for powder, they were driven to chase the weather. Follow their movements on the search for pow, chasing the weather in a Chile Summer Daze.

In TEN DER FOOT part 4 we head down to Chile to meet up with some locals and have them show us around!

Garrett Warnick aka From’s TEN DER FOOT snowboarding Pt.4

Our good friend Worm came back to visit us on August 2019. He came up with this short video project where he showcases his experience on a snowboard. On this episode, together with Harrison Gordon, he rides with locals Manuel Diaz, Spiro Razis and JP Audisio who join forces with Dos Tiempos’s Cristián Wehrhahn on a fun couple of days riding the southern volcanes Lonquimay and Tolhuaca. Join them as they indulge in the culture and ride the beautiful terrain Chile has to offer.

Snowboarder Magazine - RIDE SNOWBOARDS IN CHILE

The terrain that the Dos Tiempos boys have at their fingertips is hard to explain. From wide open glacial fields in the high alpine to pinner-tight chutes and couloirs zigging and zagging down the faces of these peaks, it's remarkable what they have access to on a daily basis. Blauvelt and Beaman were equally impressed with the terrain, and it showed in their productivity.

The opportunity on this trip is like a dream come true, I´ve got the locals taking me to all the best spots so, yeah it couldn´t be much better so...

Sage about to ride a long one

Sage Kotsenburg’s Backcountry Snowboarding in Chile

With 3 feet of fresh we linked up with our friends at Dos Tiempos, grabbed some sleds and headed out into the backcountry for 3 days of insane riding. I highly recommend checking out Chile for some riding in the southern hemisphere. Great mountains, resort riding, sidecountry + backcountry, fun parks and some of the best people to shred with.

Arbor´s Bryan Iguchi and Mark Carter

“Chile is an incredible place for a multitude of reasons. Between the amazing terrain, the friendly people, and unique culture, it’s a place without equal anywhere in the world. This atmosphere draws in plenty of riders, with the Arbor crew gladly answering that call. Bryan Iguchi and Mark Carter make the trek to experience some awesome zones and explore the local culture, resulting in the latest Video Log from Arbor.”

Huellas Snow Video Chile - El Colorado Soldires

Our friend from Chile, Paulo Audisio sent over the trailer for Huellas, a film he has been working on with Manuel Diaz, Cristian Wehrhahn, Jaime Venturelli, and Stone Parker as they travel the globe. Footage was collected in Chile, Russia, India, Japan, and Stevens Pass. If the impressive rider list and exotic locales isn’t enough to win you over, the description on the video is below:

Esto es una pequeña muestra de lo que han sido algunos de nuestros viajes en busca de las montañas soñadas, los terrenos inexplorados, y toda la cultura que rodea el misticismo de vivir nuestra pasión en la nieve. Esperamos caminar y dejar bien marcadas nuestras Huellas por el mundo y en un futuro presentarles esta gran producción.

Manuel Diaz - Visiones

The satanic penguin

Manuel Diaz is Chile’s biggest snowboard star, Visiones is his video, and it showcases his power on a snowboard. Most of it is filmed in Alaska and elsewhere, but it shows the way a snowboard should be ridden, and it will inspire you to go bigger next time, and that is why it is relevant on our website. He is a Farellones local and visits us very often.

GO BIG MANUEL!
